Cupping coffee.
Why you should cup coffee, and why you should do it with as many people as possible!
Cupping coffee has got to be one of the top aspects of my job. Possibly the most important part, and there is nothing more satisfying than cupping coffee with other humans.
I cup coffee every day, I made a pact with myself some time ago to do this and it has now become a well-formed habit, a habit I enjoy and have learned so much from.
Today was a reminder of how wonderful it is to get around the cupping table and get excited about coffee. I am currently working on a sourcing project with the amazing team at Omwani Coffee Company and this morning was spent cupping Pre-shipment samples from Rwanda. The coffees were delicious and I am really excited about sharing this story and the coffees In the months ahead.
As I was driving homeward after my visit to Omwani HQ it dawned on me that I would probably travel many miles to cup coffee with other people and just how important the role of coffee cupping plays in the way we communicate quality.
I need to do this more often and I am thinking of maybe starting a monthly coffee cupping club at the Roastery if anyone is interested?
I also cupped a load of production batches today and I’m pleased with our progress.
Anyway, I have said cupping way too much for one post.
Until next time.
